Editorial policy

The rules we hold ourselves to, written down so you can hold us to them too.

Independence

Plate & Rack is funded by affiliate commissions, disclosed in full on our affiliate disclosure page. That funding buys us nothing editorially. No brand pays for placement, no manufacturer supplies free product in exchange for coverage, and commission rates are invisible to the ranking process — we rank by our published durability method and nothing else.

No fabrication — ever

  • No invented reviews or ratings. Our scores are our own editorial judgment from documented research. We have no customer reviews to aggregate and we never invent one.
  • No made-up prices.Every price is pulled live from Amazon and date-stamped. When we can't verify one, we show none.
  • No guessed specs.Steel gauge, capacity, warranty terms and dimensions come from the manufacturer's own materials. Where a figure isn't published, we say so rather than estimate.
  • No invented credentials or testing.We do not run a lab and we never write "in our testing" as if we do.

Corrections

We get things wrong sometimes, and when we do we fix them in the open. If you spot a factual error — a warranty term that changed, a spec we misread, a discontinued product still listed — email info@plateandrack.com or use the contact form. We aim to correct verified errors within 48 hours and to update the "last updated" date on the page when we do.

Update cadence

Roundups are reviewed on a roughly 90-day cycle, and whenever a reader flags a change. We update the modified date only when something on the page genuinely changed — we do not fake freshness by bumping dates on pages we didn't touch. A product that is discontinued or has a documented reliability or warranty change is replaced promptly, so no list recommends a dead or downgraded product.

How a pick can lose its spot

A recommendation is not permanent. It can be dropped or downgraded if the manufacturer shortens the warranty, the build quality slips, the price stops making sense on a cost-per-year basis, or a better-value option appears. Commission has no vote in that decision.
